Story of Garlin, a lonely unicorn who wished for a forever friend. One day at the beach, she met Rosa, a mermaid and found her best friend in Rosa. This is the story of the day Garlin’s wish came true.
Once upon a time, there was a lonely unicorn. Her name was Garlin. She was just a kid.
Everyday, she would go to the wishing well, and sing in a wish, a wish to find her best friend forever.
One day her wish came true! Here’s the story of how it happened.
The Beach
One day, Garlin was planning to go to the beach. She packed her snorkels, swimwear, sunscreen, her favorite sunglasses and a large beach ball. Little did she know when she arrived, that her wish was going to come true!
The sun was at the perfect temperature, the sea was as blue as it could be. The beach was the color of the yummiest cantaloupe.
Garlin found the perfect spot to settle down her stuff and soak in that sun.
A girl named Rosa
Suddenly, oh what was it, she heard a chirpy voice in the distance. Where did it come from, she wondered. She noticed, there, far into the distance was a mermaid. And she was so funny!
Garlin walked over to the mermaid, ‘Hello, my name is Garlin!’. The mermaid responded – ‘It’s so nice to meet you Garlin, my name is Rosa and I live in this big blue sea’.
The two girls became friends instantly. They started warming up to each other very quickly. Rosa wanted to go swimming so she asked Garlin to get all her swimming equipment. Rosa even taught Garlin how to use them to surf the waves.
Done surfing the waves, they went looking for shells. They found red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, and rainbow shells of all shapes and sizes. And what else did they find? Oh wow they even found burnished pearls fresh from oysters.
Brr…it’s getting cold now
Soon it was evening and it was time for the sun to go home. Garlin and Rosa were also tired, and hungry, with a whole day of fun. It was also getting a bit chilly…brrr…
Garlin, always handy that she was, found some wood and set up a quick fire. Then they got some food from Garlin’s bag and started munching.
Suddenly Rosa said – “Hey, want to tell some knock knock jokes?”. Garlin said – “That’s a great idea!”
Rosa started – “Knock knock. Who’s there? Boo. Boo who? Why are you crying?” and they fell on the beach, rolling in laughter.
Garlin thought she knew a better one – ” Knock knock. Who’s there? Hatch. Hatch who? Bless you!”. It was so silly!
Rosa thought she had the best one of them all – “Knock knock. Who’s there? Spell. Spell who? Okay, W-H-O.” Haha
Time for some ice-cream
Suddenly they heard a music they loved. What was it! Oh wow, that’s the ice-cream truck. The two girls ran as fast as they could to the ice-cream truck.
Who was it but Terrence! The funniest ice-cream boy Garlin had every met. Terrence was mad, he drove the ice-cream truck right into the sea! Crazy Terrence. They loved him!
There were so many flavors, there was vanilla, and chocolate, and strawberry, and cotton candy, and bubble gum, and mint…it was so hard to choose from. Garlin just couldn’t choose and got three – cotton candy, bubble gum and mint! Oh Garlin, you are impossible.
It was time to say good night
Rosa and Garlin were feeling full, happy and sleepy. And the sun was about to set. They finished off their cones as fast as they could and gave two BIG yawns.
“Alright Rosa, it’s time for me to head home”
“Yes, Garlin, me too! It was so amazing to meet you and thank you for all the fun today. Can’t wait to meet you again soon!”
“Yes Rosa, it was so nice to meet you too! I can’t wait to be back to the beach tomorrow for yet another day of fun, food and ice-creams. Yay!”
Rosa gave Garlin the biggest, warmest, cuddliest hug. And Garlin gave it right back.
“See you later, alligator. Goodnight Rosa.”
“See you in a while, crocodile. Goodnight Garlin.”
“Goodnight Terrence”
“Goodnight Rosa. Goodnight Garlin.”
Garlin could barely keep her eyes open as she took her way back home. Little did she know that she was trotting back home with a heart full of love.
She was so happy! Her wish had come true. She couldn’t wait for the next day to come soon.
She had found the best friend ever.
